The Project
Launching autonomous vehicles in a new market is fundamentally an exercise in consumer trust. For our Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) campaign proposal, our team developed a market rollout strategy for Waymo across the Denver metropolitan area. Rather than delivering a conventional tech launch, the brief was to embody the brand in a way that resonated specifically with Denver’s transit landscape. We wanted to shift autonomous driving from a futuristic novelty into an accessible, elevated daily habit.
The Strategic Challenge & Consumer Insight
Denver presents distinct adoption hurdles. Unlike tech-native markets like San Francisco, local riders approach autonomous transit with innate skepticism around safety, navigation through dense construction, and regional driving conditions. Furthermore, local transit alternatives often leave riders dealing with unkept ride shares, surging costs, or dropped fares.
Our strategic unlock was intentional: don't litigate the technology; sell the experience.
Instead of getting bogged down explaining sensor redundancy or defensive driving algorithms, we treated safety as an implicit baseline and positioned Waymo around private luxury and predictable calm. For tech-forward young professionals, daily commuters, and weekend riders, Waymo wasn't pitched as a novelty taxi, bur rather a standardized, quiet sanctuary between meetings, flights, and nights out. By converting this early-adopter segment first, we hoped to create a visible foundation to normalize driverless mobility across the Front Range.
The Creative Execution: "Ready? Set. Waymo!"
To cut through hesitation with energy and momentum, we anchored the campaign around the tagline “Ready? Set. Waymo!” The platform guided consumers through a structured psychological journey designed to turn passive skepticism into confident trial:
Awareness (Ready? Set. Notice.): Capturing high-visibility curiosity through bold OOH placements and short-form video showing Waymo in familiar Denver contexts.
Engagement (Ready? Set. Imagine.): Sparking conversation around real pain points—no surge pricing, no awkward small talk, and no cancelled rides on a Friday night in LoDo or heading to Red Rocks.
Trial (Ready? Set. Try.): Driving app downloads and first-ride adoption through targeted experiential activations at community hubs, sporting events, and concert venues.
As Creative Lead, I directed and designed the high-impact visual touchpoints, focusing on minimal copy, striking layouts, and a direct, conversational tone. I produced mock OOH billboard assets built for split-second readability, alongside social media frameworks and influencer templates centered on organic "Day in the life with Waymo" creator content.
"We love live music, too" — Positioned against the iconic Red Rocks skyline to connect the fleet directly to Colorado’s concert culture and solve late-night transit friction.
"Relax with us, Denver" — Showcased the serene in-cabin experience, highlighting quiet comfort and personal space away from city chaos.
"Hey Denver, Ready? Set. Waymo" — A high-energy social montage celebrating local riders, nightlife, and daily mobility.
Integrated Media Mix & Impact
To meet riders at critical decision points, we architected a balanced 40/30/30 channel distribution:
40% Paid & Organic Social: Fueling discovery, creator partnerships, and routine lifestyle integration.
30% Out-of-Home (OOH): Dominating high-density commuter corridors and downtown artery displays.
30% Experiential Activations: Deploying vehicle showcases at Ball Arena, Coors Field, and local festivals to let consumers physically interact with the fleet and eliminate the mystery of the hardware.

Results:
The proposal was pitched to academic faculty, earning high marks for its strategic reframing of autonomous tech, the punchy clarity of the OOH creative, and a channel mix engineered around conversion psychology rather than pure awareness.
